Can You Read My Mind?

I'm becoming more and more angry as I hear about Democratic anger and apathy. I ask, why should elected Demcrats stand up for us when we won't stand up for them. We listened to GOP lies in 1994 and threw Democrats out for 12 years for "over-reaching."

This year it's the same thing. Some of us say Democrats have overreached. The other half are saying you're not doing enough. Either way, the elected Democrats can't please the people who voted them in.

The very premise of this podcast is wrong. Democrats are not losing because we won't stand up for them. They are losing because they didn't stand up for themselves. The current administration has been a huge disappointment for any person who thought that Obama would be a 6 of 10 liberal. He has turned out to be 2 or 3 of 10. Jeff you may be satisfied with a leader whocompromises to the point of losing the original intent of the agenda but most people aren't. Not only has this administration repeatedly ignored the professional left which has offered great policy suggestions which would go a long way toward providing results on some of America's most pressing issues, they also spit in the face of their liberal critics on a near weekly basis. Liberals make up the base of the Democratic party. Ignoring/insulting the base and repeatedly not hold strong positions while weakening your own agenda and even taking the positions of your enemies has made the administration look ineffective, out of touch, and most of all a mistake. President Obama may have set the progressive movement back 20 years. It will be hard to convince the uninformed that Obama is not representative of a liberal / progressive administration.

LOL! I should have expected your reply, Nick. I understand your premise, but I am not talking about Obama only. He'll be re-elected. I'm talking about the Democratic Congress, which has done a fine job, and the Democratic Senate  which didn't have huge majorities. The majority of Democrats would have done just what you anted, but SOME were dinos and others are in conservative districts.

A conservative congress translates literally into more misery and death. What's more important than stopping that?

Conservative districts is not an excuse to vote against correct policy. I'm willing to bet everything that even these districts will be willing to continue to vote for democrats if they showed results. People care more about results than almost anything else. If democrats stood together and made smart policy decisions that actually could not be derided as elite, corrupt, and out of touch. They could dominate all branches of government for at least 20 years. Conservatism has had a hayday the last 30 years it is possible progressivism can do the same.
